Timber Framing and Natural Building
Timber framing is a traditional form of natural building in which large timbers are joined together not with the use of metal, but rather with finely crafted joints made from the timbers themselves.
I have been lucky enough to learn from great timber framers, some of whom log trees from their own forests and employ the use of oxen to haul the trees from the forest to the worksite.
By relying on the use of human and animal skill and strength instead of extra materials and machinery, we can build more naturally and strengthen relationships with the animals, trees and people around us.
